Larry Dean Martin –  March 18, 1939 – October 11, 2025

Larry is preceded in death by wife, Gerrie Martin, granddaughter Allie Canedo, parents Frances Mae Martin and Newton Austin Martin, two sisters and three brothers.

Larry was born on March 18, 1939 to Frances Mae Martin and Newton Austin Martin in Colorado Springs, CO. He went to Ivywild Elementary, South Jr High and graduated from Colorado Springs High School (Palmer) in 1957.

He met and fell in love with Geraldine Young in Colorado Springs in 1960 and they were married on July 9, 1960. He began creating his family starting with three children, Theresa (Dan) Borata, Kevin Martin, Lisa (Rich) Canedo. With roots in place, the family continued to grow with grandchildren, Amber (Ben) Derryberry, Jennifer (Luke) Townsend, Kyle (Amber) Borata, Andrew Borata, Aubrey (Miguel) Ortega, Kami (Cody) Finn, Allie Canedo, Richie Canedo. His great-grandchildren are Davian, Vincent, Marissa, Kaitlynn, Jayce, Arya, Iris, Belle, Justus, Makaylee, Levi, Tenley and Beau.

Larry had a successful career in the asphalt industry for over 40 years where he was liked and respected by colleagues and friends.

His true passion started in 1963 when he began his racing career. Larry’s racing is something he was very proud of. It was a distinguished and very successful career with three-time track championships. He ended his career in 1977.

Other hobbies Larry loved were camping, fishing and gambling, gambling, gambling.

His unconditional love and support for his family that he built will never be forgotten and will continue to be passed on.

Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 2nd at the Black Forest Community Center 12530 Black Forest Rd. Colorado Springs, CO 80908 from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm. (Don’t forget that daylight savings time ends)
