Ricky was a body man at Lombard Body and Fender in Lombard Illinois for many years. He always took such pride when it came to that job, he could paint match perfectly before computers were a thing. He would tell us stories of when he was a kid how he would pick blueberries from the fields in Michigan. We would have family trips in the summer as kids and spend a few days in South Haven Michigan, he would tell us stories of his child hood up there that we always loved to hear. We would spend the weekends with him watching Howard the Duck, Labyrinth, and The Never Ending Story. He said it would drive him crazy because it was like he was living in the twilight zone due to the Tv was always on repeat, but he cherished every minute of our arguing on who was going to watch what show first. Rick was known for wearing his sleeveless Pink Floyd T shirts and vests in the dead of winter. We gained our love of Pink Floyd, The Eagles, and many other classic rock bands from our father. We would look forward to the lilac parade in Lombard with all of his friends and our family for the Lilac Parade and the taste of Lombard every year, it always seemed like he knew everyone in town. Rick loved every holiday with us kids but he loved Christmas the most, he would go out of his way to get us everything we wanted even when he couldn’t afford it.
Rick loved taking his grandchildren to the park and running around with them when they were little. He would push the kids in the swings until his arms got too tired to push them anymore.
Rick had 2 very close friends Tom ( Illinois)and Karen (Florida) that he has been friends with for around 50 years that he loved to chat with every week.
Rick was a devoted brother, friend, father, uncle and grandfather that loved us all very much even tho the miles divided us. The family bond was always important to him, no matter how close or how far, we are all FAMILY he would say.
