John Gair passed away on May 31, 2026, following natural health complications. He leaves behind a legacy of creativity, curiosity, resilience, and love that touched countless lives.

John was a pioneer in the photography industry, a passionate artist, an explorer of ideas, and a man who viewed the world through a uniquely creative lens. He had an extraordinary eye for beauty and a remarkable ability to find meaning in places and moments others might overlook. His work reflected not only what he saw, but how he saw the world: with wonder, imagination, and an appreciation for life’s smallest details.

Known for being the most eccentric person in any room, John had a gift for seeing things differently. He was endlessly curious and loved exploring life’s mysteries, his faith in God, spirituality, and the worlds beyond what we can see. His unconventional ideas often sparked thoughtful conversations, and his unique perspective left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Music was one of John’s greatest passions. It was more than entertainment to him. It was a source of connection, inspiration, and joy. Like his photography, music allowed him to experience the beauty, mystery, and emotion of life on a deeper level. General Johnny’s Radio Minutes reflected his love of sharing ideas, stories, and perspectives with others.

John also had a special love for dogs and rarely met one he didn’t befriend. He believed they possessed a purity and loyalty that made the world a better place, and he found great joy in their companionship throughout his life.

One of John’s defining qualities was his resilience. No matter how many times life knocked him down, he always found a way to stand back up. Those who truly knew him witnessed his brilliance, compassion, sense of justice, generosity, and unwavering spirit. He faced life’s challenges with determination and continued moving forward with courage and conviction.

To his daughter, Heather, John was far more than a father. He was her guide, confidant, the source of many laughs, and favorite adventure companion from a young age. He taught her the importance of exploring the world, thinking independently, and embracing life’s unexpected journeys. Together they shared experiences and adventures that many people never experience in a lifetime. His wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love helped shape the person she is today.

John’s impact on this world and on those who loved him will not be forgotten. His spirit lives on through his photography, General Johnny’s Radio Minutes, the music he loved, the stories he shared, and the countless lives he touched along the way. His creativity, passion, curiosity, kindness, and wonderfully eccentric outlook on life will continue to inspire those who knew him.

John is survived by his daughter, Heather Gair; his niece, Courtney Robertson; and his former wife, Connie Maier. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Gair and Barbara Higbee Gair; his brother, David Gair; and his sister, Cherie Gair.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who cared for, prayed for, supported, and loved John throughout his life.

Rest easy, John. Your light lives on in the photographs you captured, the music you cherished, the dogs you adored, and the memories carried by all who knew and loved you.

Always celebrate.
