Jimmie George Mestas
February 8, 1946 – June 12, 2025
Jimmie George Mestas, age 79, of Colorado Springs, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2025. He was born on February 8, 1946 in La Junta, Colorado a son of the late Lupe and Tillie Mestas.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Yvonne Rick, as well as his siblings, Stella, Cruz, Manuel and Maryellen.
Jimmie is survived and missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Edna; and his three daughters, Amy (Scott), Justina (Steve), and Suzanne (Kevin). He will be forever cherished by his seven grandchildren, Thaddeus, Monika (Nick), River (Sol), Cody (Brittany), Taylor (Ryan), Rheese, and Wyatt; and four great-grandchildren, Elora, Audra, Kayden, and Pheonyx.
His memory lives on not only with his immediate family, but also with his surviving brother Phillip and his sister Priscilla, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Jimmie had a successful career in civil service working for the U.S. Air Force Academy for 36 years, advancing to a supervisory position, earning many awards and certificates. He was a man of many talents, having a passion for singing and drawing and working on cars. He had very strong values and was well loved by everyone, sharing his great sense of humor at every opportunity. An avid golfer, bowler, fisherman, pool player and all-around sports enthusiast, he enjoyed gardening, reading, crossword puzzles and spending more time with his family in his retirement years.
The family is currently making plans for a celebration of life. Further details will be shared soon.
