Deborah Jean Potts (née Jackson), age 73, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, in Pueblo, Colorado.

Deborah was born on February 21, 1952, in Pueblo, Colorado, to Kenneth Jackson and Mary Anne Crawford Jackson, both of whom preceded her in death. From an early age, she had a love of learning, people, and creativity that remained constant throughout her life.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in Foreign Language Education, specializing in French and Italian, from Southern Colorado State College in 1974. Deborah went on to share her love of language as a French teacher at Corpus Christi Junior High School in Colorado Springs, where she inspired students with her enthusiasm, kindness, and encouragement. She later worked for many years as a professional proofreader, a role well suited to her keen eye, attention to detail, and deep appreciation for language.

Her love of languages stayed with her always and took her to Paris on two occasions, most recently in 2019, where she delighted in using her French and embracing the culture she cherished.

In 1972, Deborah married the love of her life, Scott Marcus Potts, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned more than five decades. Together they built a home filled with laughter, warmth, and welcome.

Deborah was an avid quilter and crafter, known especially for the beautiful handmade cards she lovingly created for others. Each stitch, card, and creation reflected the care she took in making people feel seen and valued. Her faith was central to her life, and she was deeply involved in First United Methodist Church, where she participated in Bible study and served as Director of Youth Activities, a role she embraced with energy, compassion, and joy.

Outgoing, lovable, and endlessly friendly, Deborah truly never met a stranger. She had a remarkable gift for connecting with people and made friends wherever she went. Her warmth, kindness, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Deborah is survived by her beloved husband, Scott Marcus Potts; her daughter, Jaimee Beth Potts; her son, Scott Marcus Potts II; her granddaughter, Olivia Anne Potts; and her great-granddaughter, Marcielina SanniaRae Villarreal, who brought her immense joy. She is also survived by her siblings, Peggy ChatfieldAmy Shewe, and Jeff Jackson, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

Services will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Deborah’s memory to Shriners Children’s Hospital or the Breast Cancer Foundation.

Deborah’s life was one of love, faith, creativity, and connection. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her generous spirit, open heart, and the many lives she touched.
