Betty Rae Shelton
August 23, 1929 – October 12, 2025

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Betty Rae Shelton, 96, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025. Born on August 23, 1929, she lived a long, full life filled with love, laughter, and strength.

Betty spent many years in Casper, Wyoming, where she and her husband, Charles Herbert Arnold, raised their children. Charles was, as she often said, “the most handsome man she ever saw.” In retirement, the two moved to Cañon City, where they enjoyed many happy years before later settling in Colorado Springs. Charles passed away there in 2001.

Later in life, Betty was blessed to find love again and shared a wonderful romance with her second husband, Russ Shelton, until his passing. She continued to live independently in Colorado Springs, taking care of herself and even driving until she was 95 years old a true testament to her strong and determined spirit.

She loved to play bridge, to sew, to read, and to make things beautiful. She was known for her stories, her laughter, and her strong personality, qualities that made her unforgettable to everyone who knew her.

Betty is survived by her daughter; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son.

Her family and friends will remember her for her humor, her resilience, and her ability to find beauty and joy in everyday life.
