Kim Donald Prentice, 73, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Oct. 1, 2025 at Legend Memory Care in Colorado Springs after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinsonism.

Kim was a mild-mannered, humble, patient man well respected by many. He was born November 12, 1951 in DeKalb, IL to Kenneth Leon Prentice and Bonnie (Peterson) Prentice. Kim is survived by his wife of 43 years, Judy. He is also survived by family members, Jodi McCollom (sister) Jim McCollom (brother in law), Lori Eames (sister) and Nicole Prentice-Gaytan (daughter) Robert Gaytan (son-in-Law), Megan Prentice (daughter), Drew Prentice (son) and Madison Prentice (daughter in law). He has two grandchildren, Dillon and Brendan Gaytan. 

Kim graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Architectural Studies and Masters of Architecture. He was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity where he met many lifelong friends.  He later graduated from the University of Colorado Denver with a Masters in Business Administration. 

In 1978 he moved to Denver, CO to join SLP Architectural firm where he again made many lifelong friendships. Throughout his career he changed to Commercial Real Estate Development.  He directed numerous medical building and assisted living projects. 

Kim had a lifelong love of historical buildings, travel and running foot races. He participated in the Bolder Boulder 10K race for four decades. His many travels included Europe, Palau, Dubai, Bali, Fiji, Greece, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and China. 

He supported his kids and their school activities attending numerous track meets, soccer and football games. 

He will be deeply missed by family and friends.
