Kirsten was born on December 28, 1961, in Fargo, North Dakota. In 1972, she moved to Colorado Springs, where she built a life grounded in love, community, and faith.
Kirsten had an unwavering love for her family, especially her three grandsons—Jayce, Zayne, and Cayde—who affectionately called her “Mema.” Her grandsons were her greatest joy and constant inspiration, and she was their favorite person. One of the recent highlights of her life was officiating the Nordic wedding of her son, Calvin, and future daughter-in-law, Montana. She lovingly ensured every detail was perfect, reflecting the deep care and commitment she always showed her family. She was their rock, their glue, and their biggest supporter.
Kirsten was also a devoted mother to her son, Ash, her youngest, for whom she would have moved mountains for. She stood by him through life’s toughest challenges and did so with unconditional love and pride.
A cherished friend to many, Kirsten had a close-knit circle she fondly referred to as her “tribe.” She found joy in live music—especially her favorite band, The Grateful Dead—and was energized by nature. Rafting, camping, hiking, gardening, and walking her dogs were among her favorite pastimes. She spent many happy hours in her community garden plot, where she found peace and purpose.
Recently baptized, Kirsten’s deepening faith brought her strength and comfort on her final journey. Her generous spirit was evident in everything she did; she was known to ask, “What can I do for you?” Her compassion was boundless, and her presence lit up every room. With contagious positivity, Kirsten lived life to the fullest and was always there when someone needed her.
