Michael Ray Buley, a joyful and charismatic soul, passed away surrounded by the love of his family (near and far) on June 3, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Born on August 23, 1955, in Seattle, Washington, Michael was the third of seven children of Ray and Louise Buley. He was a proud father of three and a beloved grandfather of seven—with one more on the way!
Michael’s greatest joy came from time spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He treasured the deep bonds he shared with his siblings, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends, embracing every journey and unexpected turn along the way.
Known for the sparkle in his eyes and his ability to bring a smile to anyone’s face, Michael lived a life defined by creativity, kindness, and deep devotion to the people around him.
A true Renaissance man, Michael was a gifted musician, striking photographer, and thought-provoking writer. He was also a successful entrepreneur who ran an advertising business for 30 years—built from the ground up—with customers (whom he considered friends) all over the United States.
His curiosity about people and the world was endless, and he approached life with both passion and purpose.
Michael believed that the answers to life’s biggest questions were always rooted in kindness and family. He found joy in everyday connections—whether chatting with baristas, collaborating with clients, or waving to neighbors on his daily walks.
His favorite moments with his kids and grandkids were the simple ones: cheering on the grandkids at games, reading books, catching up on FaceTime, going on Dutch Bros runs, thrift shopping, chatting about life and the Seattle Mariners, or playing “the piggy game,” Hearts, or 10,000. These ordinary moments were the heartbeat of his life—and the legacy he leaves behind.
Michael’s life was grounded in faith and hope. One of his favorite verses, Jeremiah 29:11, captures his enduring outlook:
“For I know the plans I have for you… plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
As we grieve his passing, we hold tightly to the joy he brought into our lives. Michael will be remembered for his limitless love, his creative spirit, and his unwavering belief that—even through its ups and downs—life is good.
He is survived by his children: Jessica; Kevin, Mikey, and Collin; Ryan, Abby, and Tristan; Tiffany, Nate, Camden, Colton, and Charlotte; his siblings: Mary Louise, Patti, Mark, Billy and Stephanie; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Michael is deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.
A celebration of life will be held later this summer with family and close friends.
