Chief Master Sergeant, USAF (Retired)  Bernard (Bernie) L. Keller, spouse, son, father, brother, and dear friend, passed away on April 17, 2025, at the age of 89. Bernie met and fell in love with Rosellie B. Burgard in Rugby, ND and they were married on April 14, 1958; they enjoyed 67 wonderful years of marriage and were able to travel extensively around the world together. 

Bernie is survived by his beloved wife, Rosellie B. Keller (Burgard); caring son, Thomas B. Keller; loving daughter and son-in-law Julie M. (Keller) and Scott M. Edwards; and affectionate grandchildren, Seth M. Edwards, and Jessica M. Edwards; all of Colorado Springs. Bernie was preceded in death by his cherished mother, Kathryn M. Nelson (Jundt) of Rugby, ND; and fondly remembered brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law James and Virginia Burgard, and Ardmore and Virginia Lindelien, all of Denver, CO. He is also survived by his wonderful brother and sister-in-law John F. and Norma Keller of Batavia, OH; dear sister, Yvonne Stewart (Keller) of Prescott, AZ; caring brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Barbara Burgard of Longmont, CO; many cherished nieces and nephews; and several dear friends. 

Bernie was born in Fargo, ND on June 19, 1935. He proudly served in the U. S. Air Force for 20 years (including serving during the Korean war) and retired in 1974. Bernie enjoyed a second career at Pikes Peak Community College where he developed and was the administrator of the extended studies program for over 20 years, retiring in 1994. 

Bernie loved camping with his wife and children all over the western US, especially Colorado, including many beautiful state parks. Bernie also enjoyed playing golf and spent many happy days on the golf course with his wonderful friends. 

Bernie will be laid to rest with full military honors at Pikes Peak National Cemetery on May 8, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. A gathering to remember Bernie will be held directly after the burial beginning at 2:30 p.m. at the Eagles FOE 3260 at 1830 N. Academy Blvd. in Colorado Springs. All family and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend;  refreshments will be served.

Bernie was one of the first 3 youths to graduate from Home on the Range. He had very fond memories of his time there and held the facility, staff, and program dear to his heart. Bernie was proud and excited that Home on the Range will be celebrating their 75th anniversary this year and continuing their legacy of helping youth.
