There he goes standing tall. Our North Star shining bright never dim. Never fading. There he goes our father. Strong as stone unbreakable. Heart of gold.

There he goes our North Star shining bright. Leading us back home. There he goes our father. Strong as stone unbreakable. Heart of gold.

To my dad,

Thank you for always giving me everything.

Brian Joseph Kabat 1949-2024

Brian Joseph Kabat entered this world on July 28th, 1949. He rejoins his mother, Kaye Schinler, and father, Jack Kabat, on February 22nd, 2024. He is survived by his siblings Butch, Dana, Karen, and Kevin, his 5 children- Charity, Cassandra, Misty, Michael, and Amanda, and his 5 grandchildren- Josiah, Diego, Angelina, Michael Jr, and Mia. He was a beloved brother, father, and grandfather.

His youth was filled with adventures from hiking the rocky trails of Utah, exploring Arizona, biking to and from Colorado Springs to Fort Collins. Brian was a kind hearted man. He gave up his chance to walk across the stage at his own college graduation, where he received Cum Laude and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science,  so that his friend was able to wave to his parents in the crowd by spotting him and his wild beard. He was a man who would give the money in his pocket and the clothes off his back if it meant that someone else was able to accomplish their dreams.

Brian spent his late thirties taking on fatherhood. It was during this time when he met his first daughter, Charity, she was already one but from the moment he met her, she was his daughter. When his second daughter Cassandra came along, he had already begun to understand the truth behind fatherhood. When Michael and Misty, his twins, arrived he had begun to understand that he would do anything to help guide them, protect them, and support his children. Finally, his last child came along, his shining star, Amanda. This completed his circle.

Brian sacrificed his body, his wallet, and his heart daily to make sure his family, his friends, and his children were provided for. He wore his beard wild and crazy, kept his thoughts quiet, pondered the world’s biggest questions, and showed his love through his actions.

“What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world is immortal”
