Robert Elmer Volker (72) of Colorado Springs, passed away after a lengthy illness on February 17, 2024 in the company of his wife of 38 years. His struggle ended peacefully in his sleep.  He was a loving husband, father, and brother and will be missed by all who knew him.  He was born on October 1, 1951 in Sumner, Iowa to Betty Louise Quant and Elmer Charles Volker.

He met his wife, Patricia in Sumner Iowa, at a barbeque on a friend’s farm in 1982. Soon after, they moved to Colorado Springs and have lived there together for almost 40 years.

He supported his family working as a stonemason. You can see his work around town; at the clock tower at UCCS, the cabins and the Cheyenne Lodge at the Broadmoor using stones found locally.  After the flooding in 2013, he worked in Manitou Springs on replacing the wall and stone bridges, with all brick sourced from Manitou Springs, as well as restoration of the wall and the falls at Seven Falls.

He was very particular about maintain his home and yard and spent many hours creating a beautiful yard.  He was a Bronco sports fan and stood behind them through the good and bad.   He enjoyed watching NASCAR with his family and would often have his sons over to watch the games and races.

He loved going on vacation with his granddaughters and family.  His favorite thing to do was walk on the beach in the morning to watch the sunrise.  If there happened to be a beach and a NASCAR race along with some fresh ocean seafood at the same time, it would be his perfect vacation.

He was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs for 36 years.

He leaves to mourn his death; his wife, Patricia Volker, his stepsons; Joel L. Hemesath (Heather) of Greeley Colorado and Michael J. Hemesath of Colorado Springs and his two lovely granddaughters, Rachel Leigh Hemesath and Lauren Rose Hemesath. As well as his sisters Carolyn Mohlis (Duane),  Becky Lingrin,  his brothers Richard Volker (Joann), Mark Volker (Joanne) and many nieces and nephews and his two dogs; Penny and Jasmine.

He is predeceased by his parents, Betty Louise Quant and Elmer Charles Volker of Fredericksburg, Iowa, and a brother Delbert Volker from Sumner, Iowa.

The family will hold a private ceremony at Bethel Lutheran Church of Family and close friends where he will be interred in the mausoleum in the church courtyard.
