Jean Annette Chalmers, born February 8, 1958, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, died of cancer November 4, 2021, at age 63. Jean dedicated her professional life to the fields of nursing and physical therapy, with a career spanning 35 years. Jean completed prerequisite work at the University of Utah to enter the Physical Therapy program. Later in her life, Jean earned a personal trainer certificate, building on the knowledge gained at the University of Utah. Jean lived and worked in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for the past several years as both a personal trainer and a home healthcare provider. 

Jean was an avid athlete throughout her life. She loved everything active from bowling to diving to hiking to skiing. Jean exceled in many sports in high school, earning letters of achievement. Jean pursued a wide range of challenging physical endeavors, including climbing several Colorado 14ers, long distance bike riding, and rollerblading.  Jean leveraged her personal interests in physical fitness and physical training in her professional life, establishing a following in her work as a personal trainer. Jean was particularly adept at meeting the needs of elderly patients and quadriplegics. 

Jean was a gifted artists who pursued many creative outlets. Jean’s family and friends were happy recipients of her beautiful paintings and other artistic endeavors. Jean produced dozens of cozy knitted scarves and hats, as well as many crochet projects. 

Jean leaves behind a close-knit family that loved her deeply and will miss her greatly. Jean was an animal lover who leaves behind three pets who also loved her very much: Tasi, Theodore, and Butterscotch. All have been rehomed to friends and family.  

Jean is survived by her mother, Roxana Wheaton Chalmers of Canon City, CO, and five siblings: Deborah (Robert) Freerksen of Hockessin, DE; Catherine (Patrick) Flynn of Canon City, CO; Steven (Misty Swan) Chalmers of Castle Rock, CO; Treacy Chalmers of Aurora, CO; and Brent Chalmers, of Pueblo, CO. She was a doting aunt to her nieces and nephew: Michelle (Timothy) Graham of Aberdeen, MD; David (Rafael Lopes) Freerksen of New York City; Grace Flynn of Morton, IL; and Anna Flynn of Gunnison, CO. Jean was preceded in death by her father, Hugh Chalmers.
