1950 ~ 2019

Mary Ann Matkin passed away on Thursday evening, November 28th, 2019 at her home in Fountain, CO where she recently moved to live with her daughter, Kenann and her family. She was 69 years old.

Mary Ann was born on April 6, 1950 and grew up in Plains, KS graduating from Southwestern Heights High School. After graduation she moved to Liberal and worked at the Southwest Medical Center where she worked in several departments. Her favorite positions were Physical Therapy Aide and Central Supply Tech. Mary Ann was a hardworking woman and loved helping others when should could.

Mary Ann met Ken Matkin in 1987 and were then shortly married. They were blessed with their one only daughter Kenann and moved to the family farmstead near Turpin, OK to raise her. In 2008, they gave up the farm and moved to Liberal where they resided until Ken’s death in 2018. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Mary Ann’s favorite times was playing with her grandson, Rogue, and running around with her daughter. She loved her sister trips and time spent with family on holidays and at the annual family reunion.  She  attended as many of the programs and sporting events of her nieces and nephews and then it continued with the great nieces and nephews. She would be one of the loudest cheerers in the stands and the one of their biggest fans no matter how far she had to travel. Aunt Mary was there. Mary was so proud of her entire family and loved watching them grow. When Rogue came along, he was her world and loved every minute that she spent with him and watching him grow.

Mary Ann was proceeded in death by her husband of 31 years, Ken William Matkin , her parents Martin & Louise Haddon and a brother-in-law Jim Zimmerman.

She  is survived by her daughter Kenann Marie, husband Ryan Randolph and grandson Roque of Fountain, CO, two sisters Marilyn Zimmerman and Michele Ratzlaff and her husband David of Plains, KS, two brothers Marvin Haddon and his wife Emogene of Wedgefield, South Carolina, Michael Haddon of Woodward OK and several nieces and nephews. She cherished every moment she had with them. She will be missed and forever in our hearts.

There will be a memorial in her honor December 14th, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Plains, KS  at 11:00 am.
