1957 ~ 2019

Timothy Lee Payton, 62, passed away at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on September 13, 2019.

Tim was born March 23, 1957, in Decatur, Illinois, son of Jack Everett and Margaret Elouise Armstrong Payton.

He graduated from Lakeview High School, Class of 1975, and later obtained an A.A.S. Degree in Electronics from Richland Community College.

          Tim worked in electronic repair, computer security, and alarm systems, working for the United States military with a high level security clearance as a private contractor for many years.  He was employed most recently as a Senior Security Technician at CGH Technology, Inc. routinely engaged in providing, installing, and maintaining airport security systems.

 Tim married Beverly Ann Miller in Colorado Springs on October 20, 2001, who survives to mourn his loss.

          In addition to his wife, Tim leaves a brother, Stephen Payton, of Decatur; a sister and brother-in-law, Susan and William Hall of New York; granddaughter Kaylee Rose of Idaho; cousins, David, Kevin, Gary, and Robin Bergland, all of Texas, Diana (Kevin) Kuklok of Tennessee, Mark “Woody” (Norma) Boughter of Springfield, and Rita Welker of Granite City; Goddaughters, Lisa Boughter Creasey of Springfield and Heather Bergland of Texas; sister-in-law, Debbie Miller of New York; brother-in-law Peter Miller of Texas; surrogate son, Jasen Edwards of New Mexico; life-long friends, Bill and Cindy Perkins of Missouri; and countless other family and friends.

          He was a lifetime member of the Lutheran church, having grown up in the Christ Lutheran Church of Decatur.

          Tim was a gentle, sensitive soul who loved music, cooking, and his dogs.  He will be greatly missed by his faithful canine companions, Willie Joe, Ellie May, Bob Johnson, Lucy Marie, and Fred.

          He was preceded in death by his parents; cousins Glenna Roper, Dennis Welker, and Pamela Welker; and step-son Nicholas Rose.

          As Tim requested, cremation will be accorded and no funeral services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice, your local no-kill animal shelter, the Springs Rescue Mission of Colorado Springs, Colorado, or the Northeast Community Fund, of Decatur, Illinois.

          Those who are family and friends of Tim will miss his compassionate soul, amiable disposition, generosity of spirit, and kind-hearted sense of humor.
