Cheyenne DeWayne Levester Burton (Doolie), was born to Mary Helen Burton in Wichita, Ks on August 29, 1963. After a short but strong fight, Cheyenne died February 6, 2019 in Colorado Springs, Co at Penrose St. Francis Hospital due to complications from Lymphoma cancer.
Cheyenne attended Starkey Elementary School.  Later in his teen years he attended Derby Jr High School. Prior to graduation, Cheyenne signed up for training with Job Corps of Oklahoma and Nebraska, where he learned several trades in construction, masonry, and landscaping.
While living in Wichita, he was employed with Asplundh Tree Services, where he truly loved what he did. In fact, he received many awards, that hung proudly on his mother’s wall, for his good stewardship. A couple of things about Doolie is that he loved to climb trees and loved to eat! He climbed a tree so high once, he was afraid to climb down that a fire truck had to be called out to get him down.  Before leaving Wichita, Cheyenne was also employed with Nichols Lawn service where he dedicated 5 years of landscaping talent before branching out to Colorado Springs, Co.
In Colorado is where Cheyenne flourished and begin his clean and sober journey.  Until his time of death, Cheyenne was employed with White Linen services where he worked in many areas as a soil sorter, washroom clerk, even as the night janitor! Busy man he was, he still made time to faithfully attend church and sobriety meetings where many say you were greeted by a huge smile and a loving hug. Cheyenne would gladly share his story of recovery and how living a clean and sober life was his dedication to his mother and himself.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Helen Burton and his sister, Shennia Burton.
He leaves to cherish his memory, sisters: Mona Lewis and Tabitha Payne (Wichita) and one brother: Kevin Burton (Wichita). To also cherish his memory are his nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews along with a host of family and friends who he considered family. A celebration of life service was held Saturday, February 23, 2019 in Wichita, Ks.
