Jane N. Tharp

1964 ~ 2019

Jane Nicole (Sheer) Tharp, age 54, passed away peacefully in her home in Colorado Springs on Sunday, January 13, 2019 after a fight against Pancreatic Cancer. She was born August 4, 1964 in Anaheim, California to Robert “Bob” and Olive Sheer. She was raised primarily in Honolulu, Hawaii and spent nearly every weekend hula dancing. She was a 1982 graduate of Punahou High School and 1986 graduate of University of California at Santa Barbara, where she was a founding member of the sorority Gamma Phi Beta. She married David Tharp on November 11, 1988 in Los Angeles, California. She had two children, Christina Ashley and David James “DJ”, of whom she loved very much. She dedicated her life to raising them and enjoyed spending time with them both. Jane was a military wife who gracefully handled changing environments and long times away from her husband. She was always a rock for the whole family, keeping strong even through the tougher times. She enjoyed hiking, traveling, skiing, dancing, and spending time with her family – especially the days spent visiting Texas A&M to see her children. She was a devoted, loyal wife to David and they supported each other through everything. Jane is survived by her husband, David; her daughter Christina and her husband Tyler; her son DJ and his wife Annissa; her parents, Bob and Olive; her brother, Robert, his wife Ingela, and his son Henry along with countless other relatives and loving friends. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life on January 26, 2018 at Academy Christian Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado with a reception to follow at the family home.

We have lost a dear friend and the hole in our hearts will take quite a long time to heal. We are ever thankful for the opportunity to have gotten to know Jane during the three decades of our acquaintance, friendship, and love. Her loving husband, David, doted on and cared for her until the very end during her pitched battle with this fearsome disease. They both fought valiantly, but, in the end, she left us all far too soon and will be missed by her husband, children, and those who loved her. It has been a privilege.
