Gary Stephen Yowell

Passed away September 18th,2018 at the age of 66.

He was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado August 3rd, 1952 to Norman W Yowell and Catherine A Yowell

(Sinnott). Raised in Southern California, his love for the Colorado mountains and abundant job opportunities had him return in 1979 with his family. He had an extensive love for woodworking and followed a career down this path from making trusses with Crissy Fowler Lumber to Cabinets with Riviera. He had a special talent, in his free time he came up with handy ideas and used recycled wood to make games with wood dice, to picture frames for his photography.

His older brothers taught him all he knew in repairing classic cars which evolved into a collection of his own. He was especially proud in California of his classic cars. One in particular was a dark blue 1950’s Ford Pick up.

His first job happened to be a car hop because of his fascination with the mechanics. He enjoyed listening to those old engines rev!

His spare time was filled with good times of watching sports (especially football), relaxing in nature, photography and coin collecting. He would never pass up a good game of horse shoes on a summer day with a beer in hand. He had an appreciation for motorcycles, eagles, and a love for God that was refreshing to witness in the end of his days. One of his last words to his Daughter before he passed was “I’m not alone, God is here.”

He is predeceased by his parents and one older Sister Mary Jo.

He is survived in death by his Son, Wesley Yowell (Angela Sinnott) and His Daugher, Amber Welch (Chris Welch), Two Granddaughters, Nychelle Yowell and Jyllienne Welch, and One Grandson, Christopher Wesley Welch. He is also survived by his two Brothers, Larry & Paul Yowell, and his two Sisters, Kay Tracy and Annette Strickland.

Gary will be missed for his lighthearted spirit, careless laughter and love for family & friends. One of the last songs Gary heard before joining our Lord was “Lenny” by Stevie Ray Vaughan. It was peaceful to his family to know he had the pleasure of hearing that. May you fly high with the Eagles and ride a Harley on the roads of gold.
