Steven James Collins was born on July 21st,1955 to the late Mr. and Mrs. James W. and Lorraine Collins in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania.
He was known by family and friends as “Steve.”
Steve was formally educated in the Philadelphia School District , where he always excelled in mathematics.
Shortly after high school, he enlisted with the United States Navy. He served from 1975-1977. He was proud and boasted about his “Honorable Discharge” . He often shared stories about his traveling ,and Navy experiences with his family .
After being discharged from the Navy he returned to Philadelphia and enrolled in the Community College Of Philadelphia (CCP) . Steve was also employed and worked diligently with the Philadelphia Navy Ship Yard .
While attending CCP, he met and began a relationship with April Travagline . They were later joined in Holy Matrimony in June 1978 . From this union they were blessed with 3 beautiful daughters, Tenesha(Tika),Tiffany , and Danielle .
Steve enjoyed cooking , sightseeing , and most all of spending time at the casinos . Steve was a master at poker.
Although born and raised in Philadelphia, he later migrated to Denver , Colorado . He loved the city of Denver , and he enjoyed being in the mountains . Steve resided there until God called him home on August 30, 2017.
Steve is survived by his wife Mrs. April Collins , 3 daughters , Tenesha Collins-Dwyer, (Reginald), Tiffany Collins-Wynn, (Nasir), Danielle Collins- Cowart (Isaac); eight grandchildren ; his godmother whom he adored M. Kirkland ; his sisters Sandra Smith ,Veronica Collins-Martin, Robin Collins ,Annette Collins, and Tracy Collins ; a host of other relatives and friends.
