Somsamay Fahrney

1963 ~ 2017

Somsamay (Mye) Fahrney (Phongsivorabouth), 53, passed away peacefully on 12 July 2017 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.  Mye was born in Savannakhet, Laos on 15 July 1963.  In 1979, she moved with her family from Laos to Ontario, Canada.  Most recently Mye lived in Vientiane, Laos; Hanoi, Viet Nam; and Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Mye loved spending time with her family and she enjoyed traveling and cooking, especially baking.  She was a gifted athlete, excelling in racket sports and winning championships in badminton and pickleball.  She made friends easily and always thought of others before herself.  We miss her more than words can say.

Mye was the beloved wife of 17 years to Keith S. Fahrney and loving mother of Lianne Chang and Jessica Chang Fahrney.  She was the loving sister of Kee, Soulinthone, and Willy of Toronto.  She was preceded in death by her brother Li Gua.

A memorial for family will be held in Ontario, Canada at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 200Manhattan Beach, CA 90266  (www.pancan.org)

We are so sorry for your loss. Please note that we feel a loss also. We thought so much of Mye and will dearly miss her presence. She was omniscient in all of her activities and would light up the area where she stood. We are all recipients of her generosity and she was a beacon of light to those of us she taught. She displayed strength and courage in her fight for life and we all mentally suffered through her plight. Our thoughts and prayers are with you folks and with the rest of her loving family. We have such fine memories of her and we are sure she had an outstanding life. May God Bless. Jim and Janet Reynolds
