James Edward Thompson
April 20, 1943 – January 29, 2026
James Edward Thompson was born on April 20, 1943, in Woodsboro, Texas, to Elbert Thompson and Katie Garner Thompson. He passed away on January 29, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

James attended the Texas School for the Deaf in Austin, Texas, during his early years. In 1962, he left the school to attend college, where he studied printing. He was married in May of 1966. He and his family lived in Irving, Texas, before moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1972. In 1994, James relocated to Robstown, Texas, and later moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 2012.

James worked as a printer for 20 years before leaving his profession due to lung problems. He had a lifelong love of learning and continued his education at Tulsa Junior College in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He also attended Oklahoma Horse Shoeing School and greatly enjoyed learning new skills throughout his life.

James is survived by his sisters, Joan Scott and Glenda Mavers; sister-in-law, Betty Thompson; his son, Kevin Thompson, and wife Sherry Thompson; four grandchildren, Meagan Kellogg (Jason), Sean Henson, Paul Thompson, and Bridget Thompson; son-in-law, Tim Henson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Katie Thompson; his brothers, John Thompson and Wade Thompson; his daughter, Tina Thompson (Henson); several nephews; and his sister-in-law, Norma Thompson.

James enjoyed fishing in lakes and saltwater, hiking, hunting, camping, and woodcraft. He was also a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and loved watching their games.
