Patrick Charles Bernal born May 5, 1958, passed away on November 6, 2024. The fourth son was born to Margarito and Maclovia (Finn) Bernal, he joins his parents and three older brothers Margarito II, Benjamin, and Anthony, who precede him in death. Patrick is survived by his daughter JoLene, son Adam (Yvonne), and granddaughters Brooklyn, Sydnie, and Willow. His brother Louie (Debbie) Bernal, and sisters Joyce (Rick) Shafer, and Carmen (Eric) Chase also survive him. Patrick worked building homes in Pueblo West for two main contractors, Doug Proal and Mike Bittenbinder. His craftsmanship was praised by many and he could point out every house he helped build, and that was a lot. He had horses most his life and would often tell stories of his bronc busting days. His passion for horses led him to a second job at Frankie’s barn. He cared for and trained hundreds of horses through the years. He also enjoyed camping trips with family and friends. He was especially close to two nephews, Margarito III and Buff Bernal. Our Dad said when it was his time to go, he wanted to ride horseback into the mountains and pass away peacefully in his sleep under a tree, like a real mountain man. Although that didn’t happen, we are hoping he found his horses ad is now resting under that tree. Cremation has taken place, and services will be held at a later date.
