Obituary for Janay Lynn Lyon

Janay Lynn Lyon was born on August 28, 1949, in Monte Vista, Colorado, and went home to

be with her Lord and Savior on January 14, 2026, in Penrose, Colorado.

Janay was preceded in death by her husband, Rod Lyon; her parents, Howard Rheingans

Sr. and Geraldine Rheingans; and her precious great-granddaughter, Aliyah Hendrickson,

and her grandson Dylan Hendrickson.

She is survived by her brother, Howard Rheingans, and sister-in-law, Vicky Rheingans; her

nieces, Hope Vogal and Trudy Ruybal; her children, Shawn Hendrickson and Joey Kervaski;

her grandchildren, Brandon Kervaski, Jamie Corsentino, Natasha Boyd, Bobby Hendrickson,

Logan Bebout, and Charlotte Hendrickson; and her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Kervaski,

Ryker Kervaski, Braxton Boyd, Sariya Boyd, Lincoln Kervaski, Lucian Hendrickson, Stetson

Boyd and, expecting her ninth great grandchild Peyton Howard.

Janay raised her children as a loving and dedicated single mother, placing family and hard

work at the center of her home. She never missed a sporting event or after-school activity

and taught her children by example what it meant to love deeply.

Her love for God’s creation was evident in her lifelong devotion to animals. Through her

involvement in 4-H, where she served as a club leader for many years, she passed this

passion down to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Janay lived on her

cherished little farm in Penrose, Colorado, surrounded by animals. She had many animals

throughout the years. All of which she cared for with gentleness and devotion. Animals

seemed naturally drawn to her, and she found great peace with a cat on her lap and a dog at

her feet.

In her younger years, Janay was a talented artist. She later earned a college degree in

education and spent time serving as a substitute teacher. Later in life, she developed a

passion for breeding and raising high-quality show rabbits, traveling across the United States

with her children and grandchildren to rabbit shows. Through this, she formed many

meaningful friendships within the rabbit show community.

Janay was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, and her family was her greatest

earthly blessing. She was strong, independent, and always ready to ofer encouragement

and support when life grew dificult. She loved the outdoors and treasured summer days at

her cabin, watching hummingbirds from the deck while her grandchildren played nearby. She

enjoyed country music and was known for her warm laughter and joyful spirit.

Janay’s faith assures her family that she is now rejoicing in Heaven, reunited with loved ones

and resting in the presence of the Lord. Her spirit will live on through her family and the

many cherished memories she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed until the day they

meet again.

Funeral services will be held on February 21st at 2:00 p.m. at 215 N. Pikes Peak Ave.,
