Stephan Michael Borden

(1970-2025)

Stephan Michael Borden, 55, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on December 23, 2025 at Pikes Peak Hospice after a nine-year battle with cancer and heart disease. 

Born on April 14, 1970, in Garland, Texas, to the late James and Annette Borden, Steve grew up in a close-knit family alongside his brother, cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of north Texas. A graduate of North Garland High School, Steve enjoyed life with family and friends, especially cheering on his beloved Rangers, Cowboys, and Mavericks. He was a bar manager at Cantina Laredo for many years before serious health issues forced him to retire. 

Steve was a fighter! Heart failure in 2014, kidney cancer in 2016, heart transplant in 2019, surviving the COVID-19 years with no immune system – he faced them all with a faith and a strength that few others possess. He is survived by his brother Dave, nieces Savannah and Sarah, great-nephew Silas, cousins Lee and Tim, aunt Delores, and many lifelong friends. He was preceded by his parents James and Annette.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the caregivers from St. Francis Hospital and Pikes Peak Hospice for their compassionate support in his final days.

He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
