Matthew H Burch

Born 4th of July 1971 Matthew passed the morning of Sept 3, 2021 at the age of 50 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Born in Hartford, CT the son of Margo Jensen Nichols and Howard J Nichols Jr.  Matt was 4 when Rodney Burch became his step-father, later Matthew’s surname was changed to Burch.

He is pre-deceased by his grandparents and his biological father, Howard Nichols Jr. He is survived by his Mother, Margo Jensen Burch, brother Torrey Burch (Tabitha Wilkes Burch), niece Lorelai (Sprite) Burch, brother Curtis Burch (Tabatha Cockrell Burch) and by Aunts, Uncles, cousins and other family in CT, VA, RI and MA. Matthew was loved and will be missed dearly.

Matt was a member of Mensa by 16. At age 16 he left Irmo high school to attend Simon’s Rock of Bard College where he graduated with a two year degree in 18 months, during college he went to Mexico for a Spanish immersion program. He joined the National Guard, worked for NCR corporation and spent the last several years working as a long-haul trucker.  Matt was a prolific published author. He wrote several books, ‘Benefactor’ published on Amazon, others through his FarmerBob1 wordpress site. Titles include: ‘Symbiote’, ‘Set in Stone’ and ‘Reject Hero’. He also wrote under FanFiction.net ‘Knights of the Broken Swords’. He had worked on several patents in the past, his latest being a method for refueling in space. Matt enjoyed his time as a cross-country trucker, seeing the various landscapes of our nation. Once, his windshield was hit by a colliding owl. On his travels, he regularly collected rare or unique rocks for his niece Lorelai, a budding rock hound. He made special attempts to find things that were of interest to her, opening her eyes to what lies beyond home, sharing home time with her doing various fun science experiments. He sold his home in Georgia and recently returned to live in SC during his time off trucking. With family he enjoyed dining out, playing Dice, Catchphrase, Mexican Dominoes and a homemade family board game called ‘Elggob’ created by Lorelai. Matt was active on a variety of internet forums.  Memorial date has not been established at this time.
