We remember Juergen D. Hensley (“Jay”) who passed away in his home on Sunday, August 29, 2021.  Jay is survived by his wife, Jean (“Lea”) Hensley, son Jason Hensley (Diane), sister Barbara Morgan (Tom), step-daughters Angie Murphy (Erik), Rebecca Brasher (Dale) and Cari Holmes.  His legacy also includes six grandchildren: Eric Holmes Jr (Hailee), Tessa Davenport (Andy), Kevyn Holmes, Jailen Holmes, Cade Murphy and Comyn Brasher; and two great grandchildren: Oaklee O’Neal and Olaya Holmes.

Jay was born on October 27, 1947 in Augsburg Germany, where he lived with his parents until moving to the US during his high school years.  Jay lived in Germany again as an adult and had a great love for his Bavarian heritage.  Jay served as a combat photographer in the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War.  His talents and accomplishments early on included athletics, vocal productions and Arabian equine show and breeding. His passions included traveling throughout the Rocky Mountains with his wife, photography, spending time outdoors, and music.  He was a Dallas Cowboys enthusiast and shared this pastime with his son, Jason and his grandson Eric Jr.

Those who knew Jay appreciated his zest for life, and how he lived life out loud and without reservation.  A college major in psychology, he loved to debate politics, discuss economic issues and current world affairs. His love for his family was ever present in his constant encouragement, support and acceptance. We praise God for the life he lived here on Earth and are grateful for his eternal life in Heaven with the Father.
