It is with a broken heart we announce that Francis J. McKinnis III, also known as Tres, son, brother, grandchild, nephew, and friend passed away at the young age of 22 on November 28, 2020 in Colorado Springs, CO.  Tres was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on August 1, 1998, but grew up in numerous states as a military dependent.  Despite his travels, Tres always found his way back to Hawaii which he considered home.

Tres had a captivating personality, vivid imagination, creative spirit, heart full of compassion, and fierce loyalty.  His smile exuded the love and acceptance he embodied.  Known by many as the Gentle Giant, he comforted the sad and broken, defended the weak and protected those who could not protect themselves.

Sometimes God crafts a soul that burns so bright and fierce it can only by here for a short time, but in that time hundreds of lives are transformed.  Tres’ fire is inextinguishable and will continue to burn bright in all he touched.

Tres leaves behind his loving parents, Shaun and Francis, and his siblings, Cameron, DiJaunte, Dymond, and Drake.  His banter, humor, jokes, twerking, and other unique quirks will be sorely missed, but reflected fondly upon often.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 1400 at the family’s home for close family and friends.  For those unable to attend, the event will be available via Zoom and Facebook live; links will be forwarded.

High school ministry had a life changing impact on Tres.  Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a memorial contribution to either Mountain Springs Church’s Elevate Conference(https://mymountainsprings.ccbchurch.com/goto/giving) or New Hope Leeward’s EPIC Camp(https://app.securegive.com/nhleeward/new-hope-leeward—kapolei-campus/purchase/category).
