Robert Bertram Dewsnap, affectionately known as “Bob” or “Bobby”, passed away peacefully at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado on July 11th, 2020 at the age of 84. Robert was born in the City of Boston, Massachusetts on November the 21st, 1935. He grew up in Boston’s iconic West End- a place he spoke of with amazing loving memories. After leaving Blackstone High School at age 17, Robert enlisted in the Air Force and served in the Korean War, which he was proud to do at such a young age. Upon returning from war, he married Theresa, whom he was with until she passed in April of 2018. Together they had five children. Robert was a proud family man, fiercely loyal and protective of them, always working hard to provide for his family which he always did. Multitasking was second nature to this man. In addition to his family priorities, he devoted himself bravely as a homicide detective for the City of Boston Police Department while also pursuing his ambition to be the best he could be, with this determination he completed his education from Northeastern University in Criminal Science. Robert was always proud of the work he did- whether it be his career, flying planes, playing the bass, camping with his kids, hunting with the guys, cooking fabulous meals, or woodworking/home improvement. No matter what Robert did, he believed in doing it right.

Robert spent his last years comfortably under the care of his eldest daughter and son in law, Mary Ann and William Flignor of Colorado Springs, CO. It was a great place for him to unwind and enjoy the beautiful elements of nature that he sought out and enjoyed. There was still so much he wanted to do and not for a minute was he allowed to believe he couldn’t. Including up until only days before his passing, he would often proclaim, “If it’s good and it makes things better for other people then I will do it- no question- I Will Do It!” However, rather quickly the challenges of end stage congestive heart failure began to win Roberts battle and his insatiable zeal for life. A no nonsense guy with exemplary courage and strength he confronted the facts head on. Including his understanding that no amount of encouragement or healthcare could change the plans in store for him. Robert, a man of his faith, soon realized a different comfort was approaching him. He also believed his cherished wife and best friend Theresa was growing inpatient waiting for him. With the immense love of his daughter, son in law, and 2 older grandsons at his side, God took Robert in His loving arms and away from pain and discomfort on Saturday morning July 11, 2020. We will miss him dearly. We will keep his loving memory, his dynamic spirit and loud laughter with us in all the good we do because we will do it and this will be our new comfort.

Robert is preceded in death by his cherished wife who was his best friend Theresa (Mascari) Dewsnap and his two adored granddaughters Christina and Alyssa Dewsnap. He is survived by his beloved sister Audrey and husband Bruce Eckman, his five children, Mary Ann(Dewsnap) and husband William Flignor, Robert Dewsnap and wife Susan, Edward Dewsnap and wife Janet, Stephen Dewsnap and wife Nikki, Anna (Dewsnap) and husband Sonny Lombardo, and the 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren he proudly loved, along with old and new friends, many nieces and nephews.
