Ralph Lawrence Hittle , 91 , of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away on
October 14th, 2019.
He was born in Lovilia, Iowa on November 3rd, 1927 to parents Clarence
and Myrtle Hittle. He spent most of his young life in Goff, KS before moving
to Sabetha. Ralph joined the Merchant Marines at the age of 17. He often
spoke fondly of this time in his life, where a “country boy saw the world”. He
went on to join the United States Air Force in 1948. While stationed at
Peterson AFB, he met Esta Alice Ira and the two were married. They raised
their two children in Colorado Springs.
Ralph retired from the Air Force in 1968. He went on to work at the United
States Air Force Academy until his second retirement in 1982. He spent his
retired years traveling in his R.V. and riding his motorcycle for as long as
he was able.
Ralph was predeceased by his parents, ex-wife and brothers Harold,
Richard (Dick) and Ronald (Ronnie) as well as sisters Dorothy and Marilyn.
He was survived by his daughter Barbara Alexander, son Alan Hittle and
his wife Kim ; grandchildren Amber Hittle-Putra, Mallorie Hittle, Brock Hittle,
Christopher Mutka, and sister Kathryn (Kay) Bottom.
No funeral services will be held as it was Ralph’s wish that his estate be
used for others, rather than himself. The family asks in lieu of flowers,
