1945 ~ 2018

Douglas Noel Cramer was born on December 20, 1945 in Highland, KS to Noel and Helen Cramer.  He was raised and educated in Hiawatha, KS.  He attended Highland Jr. College for two years.  He suffered a brain aneurysm on May 5th and later died on May 8, 2018 at 72 years of age.

He was activated with the Kansas National Guard, 69th Infantry Brigade in 1968 and served on active duty at Ft. Carson, CO as an Army Specialist Five.  He served from May 68 to December 69 and received the Army Commendation medal for Meritorious Service from Major General, Bernard Rogers, USA Commanding and Stanley Resor, Secretary of the Army, upon discharge.

Doug started his career with the Postal Service in Topeka, KS in 1975.  He retired from the Letter Carrier craft of the US Postal Service in 2004 after 30 years of service. He loved his mail customers in the Rockrimmon area of Colorado Springs.

Besides his family, Doug loved his country, the KC Chiefs, hiking, camping and photography.  He spent considerable time outdoors enjoying life and nature.  He was a loving, caring, kind, compassionate husband, father and friend to many.  He loved working on projects around the house and helping others.  He had an infectious smile and a kind attitude towards all.  His laughter and his presence is already sorely missed.  Always in our thoughts, forever in our hearts.

Doug leaves behind Lana, his wife and sweetheart of 47 years, beloved son, Chad, loving daughter-in-law, Vivian, caring sister-in-law, Traci McKinley and his dog and pal, Chance.  He was pre-deceased by his parents and his brother-in-law, Gary Parsons, a Viet Nam Marine, who died in service to his country in 1966.  Doug worked tirelessly to have a bridge in KS re-named in Gary’s honor.  Regrettably KS state officials never followed through to completion.
