Our Mom, Meta (Carol) Sandusky, just reached her 77th birthday.  She was quite proud that she hit that milestone.  We had a lovely birthday dinner and her dessert of choice was Baskin Robbins Pralines and Cream Ice cream.

Meta (Carol) was born the youngest of 9 siblings in rural Missouri.  She finished her high school education and went to beauty school.  She met and married her husband Lonnie P. Sandusky in 1960.  They enjoyed many activities together which included boating, camping, and going to classic cars shows.  They had their first daughter, Paula, in 1968.  Dana was the second daughter and came along in 1970. Meta and Lonnie retired in Missouri and in 2001 picked up and moved to Colorado.

Meta (Carol) was a long time Parts Manager for Hatfields (Honda) in St. Joseph, Missouri.  She and her husband, Lonnie, spent many weekends camping in their RV’s.  They enjoyed being on the road camping seeing new places and making new friends.  Our Mother was an avid crafter and taught herself how to crochet, knit, paint and sew.  The last few years she became very good at making hand-sewn quilts.  She was thrilled to have finished all of her quilts for her daughters and grand-daughters for Christmas in 2016. Since moving to Colorado she met many friends at the Senior Center and learned to play a lot of different difficult card games and enjoyed going up to Cripple Creek not only for the drive but also for the slots.

Meta (Carol) was preceded in death by her beloved husband Lonnie of 48 years. Her angel of a grand-daughter Alexis of 23 months old.  Her parents Reece and Hattie along with all her brothers and sisters.  She is survived by her daughter Paula along with her husband Joseph.  Her other daughter Dana and her two children Megan and Kylie.  And finally Lauren who resides out of state.

Meta (Carol) chose to be cremated and at a later date will be scattered with her husband Lonnie.  Per Mom’s instructions there will be a small gathering at the Senior Center to celebrate her life.  The family mourns the loss of a beautiful soul that was loving, giving and graceful until the end of her life.
